So with wedding season in full swing at the moment I thought I'd write a blog post on the fashion and beauty tips I personally have for going to a wedding! Some of these hints and tips might apply to you, some may not but this is my 'wedding guest prep for dummies' so to speak post!

(1) ORGANISATION : If you aren't planning on being organised you may as well not bother reading the rest of the tips I have listed below. Organisation is key. There is a reason brides send their save the date cards out months in advance. They say it's so you can book the day off work but it's secretly so you can get the perfect outfit together!

(2) Color : I think the colour scheme of your outfit is always the most important thing to pick, from there you can make a lot of decisions. With this in mind, one of the first bits of information you should ALWAYS try and squeeze out of the bride/bridesmaid/a friend is the colour scheme of the wedding. If the bridesmaids are wearing purple - you don't. If the bridesmaids are wearing peach dresses, don't include peach in your outfit. There is nothing worse than looking at wedding photos and seeing people dotted through the church that look like they could be standing on the alter with the wedding party.  Oh and this goes without saying but DON'T be that girl who wears white.

(3) With your colour scheme decided I think that you should always have a 'style' in your mind. For example in the wedding outfit that I have posted here (thanks mummy for letting me blast your photograph on my blog) the first thing that was decided in terms of 'style' was that we wanted something classic, timeless and elegant. From there it was easy to pick accessories, hair styles and make up looks.

Dress : ASOS
Necklace : ZARA
Watch : Michael Kors
Clutch : Glitz Bitz Athlone

(4) Less is more at weddings. Although you want to look and feel beautiful remember it's nothing to do with you. Leave the four feet fascinators at home and let the bride be the centre of focus in each photograph. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't still look bold and brave but don't over do it. There is a fine line between fashionable and a disaster.

(5) Accessories : One thing I often see people fall down on is accessories. Although matching is some times nice you don't always have to have your outfit in head to toe all one colour. Instead like in the outfit shown you could pick something that works WITH your colour scheme without matching it. Black and pearls match not only the style of the outfit but they also compliment each other very well. Accessories are another point where I'll revert back to point four, you don't need to have a million and one accessories to look 'the part'.

(6) Comfort : I know pain is beauty but remember weddings are LONG. Between ceremonies, speeches, dinner and drinks your feet are going to hate you before the day is even half way through. I personally always suggest an outfit change. You wear your smart, formal outfit till after the dinner and then when everyone else comes down to the 'party' section of the wedding, run up to your room put on something comfortable and dance your night away not worrying about spilling red wine on your beautiful coast €200 dress!

You don't want this to be your reaction to photographs.

(7) I'm all about being brave and pushing the barrier but one of the worst things about weddings is how many photographs are going to be taken of you. In five years time you don't want to look back at the photographs and wonder what drugs exactly you were taking whilst picking out your outfit.

(8) BEAUTY : My main beauty tips would be go for a flawless but effortless look. You want make up that will sit perfectly for the entire day so don't over-do it. You want enough make up so that you look good but you also want to think of things like contouring just a little bit more than usual so your cheeks are nice and defined in those 500 photographs I talked about earlier.

- Prep well (moisturiser, primer)
-Apply well (your application technique is key)
-Set (powder, spray)

You want to be glowing from the ceremony at 1:00pm till you are crawling till your room at 4:00am!
