It seems like a million years since I last posted one of these! You can find previous room posts *HERE and *HERE the most recent being June of last year. That would of been right before I headed off to America for a pretty big summer trip! Since then I've probably had my craziest and most time consuming working arrangements and because of that I hadn't really done much with my room! After my most recent trip to Oklahoma in April I put up a few Hockey memorabilia bits but other than that nothing really had changed. I'm rambling already, god help us! Getting back on track! So with a whole 'new me' life mantra going on at the moment I decided it'd be the perfect time to re-do my room!
Lets dive right in? The main goal was simple : I wanted to surround myself with things that settled me. Pictures that would inspire me, enlighten me, put me in my place when I needed it. I wanted an organised working space and I just wanted to feel as much at home as I could. So that when someone walked into my room they could see parts of who I was and wanted to be framed across the walls! I didn't want to spend too much money and I didn't want to change the location of the big items in my room (bed, desk etc). After that? I had no idea what I was doing, just that I wanted to do it!
(*) The first picture above is probably where I spend 90% of my life. Drinking coffee from one of my many Starbucks mugs, blogging, editing photographs, reading, writing, emailing, having a sneaky stalk of cute boys on Facebook. My bedroom is in the front of the house so it means that I have such good natural light from about 12:00pm on in the day so nothing makes me happier than sitting at my desk with my window open letting the sunlight and the smell of the sea into my room!
My desk is a pretty basic light wooden desk but I wanted to maximise space as much as I could. I have an obscene amount of diaries, note pads, books, etc so I decided to add a shelving system to the desk. All it took was a few screws and it was secured into place. I painted it purple to match the one purple feature room in my otherwise grey bedroom.
-On top of the shelves I have my DVD collection that obviously wouldn't fit into the frame of the photograph, my Starbucks mug collection, a cute Christmas decoration and a champagne glass from my 21st birthday party!
-In terms of shelving organisation I have a pretty basic set up. Loose documents, folders, and small notepads currently being used in one box, books in the next, misc items in one, finished note pads, diaries and mood books in the next, more books in the next!
-As you can see on the side of my purple unit I have a few little bits and bobs. I have two Polaroid's from my most recent trip to Oklahoma, a photograph of Kennedy Brock, a quick look year diary I made myself and a photograph of John O'Callaghan.
-Then I have a bunch of stationary!
It probably seems silly to most people that my shelves don't really have much on them but the last time I did my room up I had them covered so heavily in books and misc items that I decided this time they would be clutter free!
Top Shelf : Simple clear glass tea light holders filled with purple (to match my feature wall) stones and a really simple Christmas decoration that I think my aunt may of bought me. People tend to go a bit crazy with the 'Hope' branded products because of my name.
Middle Shelf : This is my 'music' themed shelf. It is home to my Bon Iver (Bon Iver) Vinyl and a few very sentimental CD's. When it came to choosing two prints to put in the frames I decided to keep it on theme using The Lumineer's 'Ho Hey' lyrics in one and then in the other I did something a little different and picked this picture with the phrase 'Make Every Moment Count'. If any of you know me personally you'll know a good chunk of my life has been dedicated to music so it fit in nicely! Going with the 'time' concept I used my adorable clock from IKEA as an added little accessory!
Bottom Shelf : Candles, candles, candles, oh and some more CANDLES! The three frames here read from Left to Right -
'She talks about you like you put the stars in the sky'
'Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love'
'Thank you for all the small things'
I just wanted a shelf where I don't know, I could be reminded that feeling how you feel is okay and that time heals everything and if you don't do what you want to do you'll end up never having anything to put in frames.
If you saw my blog "Cute Home Style and CAKE!" you will of already seen these two pictures above! I however had to obviously include them in this again as it's all about my new room! Like I mentioned in my previous blog I used all of the frames that I already had purchased for the last home improvement fun and simple changed the pictures inside them! All you need is a printer, some ink and some imagination!
One tip I would give people who are going to use more than a handful of frames in one room is to pick a sort of 'theme' between them. I decided that I would use all WHITE frames (bar one) so that there was a sense of unity between them all. Something that made them all match even though they were all different shapes, sizes, widths, made of different material etc.
I've always loved the of Pinterest but I never really got into the website. I'm obsessed with printing out pictures, cutting them up and putting them in diaries, inspiration notebooks and now my mood board! I decided to use this as a way of putting up a few things that inspire me and drive me so that I could keep things like my blog and my life on track!
From drawings of Kim Kardashian to quotes on cheating and Chicago Blackhawks captains this is currently whats up on my July Mood Board! Surrounding it is super cheap IKEA heart lights!
This whole other section of my room looks like a big cluttered mess but surprisingly enough everything has it's home. I can find every beauty product at the touch of my finger tips and if I'm being honest the chaos is all sorts of calming!
All over this side of my room you'll find photographs, stickers, badges - all holding special meaning and merit. Obviously the biggest element of this wall is my chest of drawers with my make up storage!
A closer look at some of the more dainty aspects of my dresser! From my Ted Baker make up bag that houses my hair extensions, a Corona Light bottle that houses a black rose and my bobbins, my KIMYE Vogue, polaroids, big glitter bows, and much more!
This is pretty much why my friends love me going on holiday with them. There is never an outfit that I don't have a necklace for. I decided to do a clear out about a month ago and I still was reaching over 50 'every day' necklaces, not including my fancy statement pieces. Opps?
Above my make up and storage is a basic shelf that is home to a DVD player, my perfumes, some beauty books and then my essential slightly bulkier products like tan and hairspray!
I have very few photographs of people in my room but one photograph that I love beyond belief is this super old photograph! It used to be in my grandparents house when they were alive and I always secretly wanted it for myself! When they passed I some how got hold of it and now it has a proud place on my wall!
Between my ridiculous grin, my older sisters ginger mess of hair and my polka dot dress it's all pretty perfect!
Then I have my poster from the 2014 Edmonton Oilers skills competition, a bird cage, some ornaments from Paris and London. A tall boy full of clothes and beauty products. A beautiful vase with more black roses and then my keys are kept on a hook by my light switch because I spend probably a good 75% of my life looking for them. If I could surgically attach them to my hand I would, sadly that surgery is yet to become available! Oh and bonus purse shot! My sister bought me this purse for Christmas knowing my obsession with River Island purses!

This is the wall by my bed that has the three shelves I mentioned earlier! The main features are the mirror that matched my frames too perfectly (from Heatons) two larger frames and then my little collage style frame that houses photographs from my trip to Edmonton, Oklahoma and Texas in January/February.
Then you have my bed! I will admit it is probably the comfiest bed I've ever slept in! If I even stay out for a night, the next morning when I come home and lie on it? It's like the most ridiculous 'welcome home' moment. Most of my cushions are my moms that I rob, but sure we won't go into details! The light bulb style lamps again are from IKEA!
A little close up of my pictures behind my bed! From pictures of my sister and I to rabbits in tea cups I guess you could say the frames behind my bed have a bit of everything going on! I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I got such an overwhelming response from my last two room tours that I thought why not do it again!
