While I was in Oklahoma I got the amazing opportunity to meet a whole new hemisphere of people. One of those people was Casey! When my sister (who is a hair dresser) and I heard that she was going to a Murder Mystery party we both jumped at the chance to take her from 2010 to 1920's! With flapper dresses, heavy lip looks and beautiful hair styles the 20's is probably one of the only eras' I've ever really dreamt of living in. I guess I came 70 years later (yes I'm a 90's baby) but a big part of my heart and at least creative mind lives dancing her life away to Charleston music with enough pearl strings to open her own store. But enough about me - lets get back to Casey! As you can see (even if you are blind) her strongest feature is her smile! So although most 1920's looks will have a heavier eye look than what I did here - I didn't want anything to take away from her lips! So I went a little bit softer on the eyes and made it all about the 'Russian Red' lips! (Thanks M.A.C!)
Creating This Look :
(1) For Casey's base I used : Mac Prep+Prime primer with a mix of Pore-Fessional by Benefit over the T-zone. Once that was set I applied Bobbi Brown foundation stick over any area that needed coverage (under eyes, on any imperfections). For that airbrushed affect I buffed a mix of NARS Sheer Glow and Mac Face + Body and set it all with Collection 200 loose powder.
(2) Eye brows : Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for basic shaping and spooling, then I used some M.A.C eye shadow to add definition to the brows. Under the brow is a Chanel limited edition high lighter from last summer (I think).
(3) Eyes : Prep with Sephora eye shadow powder. The gold/organge tone all over the lid is from a M.A.C feline range pallet, the brown used in the upper socket blended down to the lid is Naked from the Naked Pallet and then the black is Blackout from Urban Decay Naked Pallet. I heavily cheated here and used HD brows black powder on an angled brush to create the eyeliner effect here! For mascara I curled her lashes and used a Givenchy mascara on bottom and top lashes!
(4) Sculpting : For highlight I used a cream base of Smash Box concealer and then went over it with the same Chanel highlighter as I used under her brows. For her sculpting I used a cream base of a very deep Bobbi Brown foundation stick and then I used my Sephora sculpting disk bronzer to set it.
(5) Lips : It took me about ten minutes to decide what M.A.C red to use on her lips but I ended up deciding on Russian Red! To make this red (and any lipstick) stand out : before you apply your colour pop a bit of highlighter into your cupids bow and run a blending brush with some bronzer on it UNDER your bottom lip!
Now all I have to do is convince her to take me to the next Murder Mystery when I get back to OKC!
Sidenote : big soppy thank you to Heather for not only being like a second mother in OKC but for introducing me to people and places I will never forget!
