'Blondes Have More Fun' a hair dye fairytale.

I know most of you who are here follow me on other social networking sites but for those of you that don't I've undergone a bit of a transformation! I WENT BLONDE! I've wanted a change for a while now after going from ombre back to my normal dark chocolate brown. This time though I wanted it to be something very different.  I wanted people to walk past me and ignore me before second glancing and realising it was actually me.

With being so dark and after years and years of hair dye I knew this was a really risky game to play. If I had of walked into 90% of hair dressers they probably wouldn't of done it. Thankfully I've a brave and crazily talented sister who is a free lance hair dresser. So after a week of begging and after a few more days of her making me swear I wouldn't hold her responsible for anything that happened - we started to process. It probably took about two weeks all together including getting hair pieces etc.

I took this photograph right after the first time she bleached my hair. All together she did two full heads and then did a touch up of the darker sections. My hair obviously with years of damage and different colours took to the bleach differently so even now there are slightly different shades.

Although I'm now considering changing my mind - I initially wanted to go blonde with a large section of ombre root still on show. That way I wouldn't be pressured to keep up with high lights and then I wouldn't just be going 'typically' blonde. Even with say the girls in work when they were crying over how bad their roots were I actually tended to prefer their hair like that!

So we left a bit of darkness on the roots but other than that we went for a pretty typical hair strip! The photograph below was after the second full head of bleaching. The amount my hair had lifted surprised us both. It thankfully went ten million times better than we had anticipated.

Although I managed to do it myself at home with good hands to help I would not recommend that any of you try this without professional help. I got lucky - this could of been a disaster story!

Once I had the colour I wanted the 'short hair' syndrome kicked in. Although my natural hair was sitting nearly down to my boobs {as pictured above} I didn't have that bombshell/barbie volume and length that every blonde girl dreams of.

A trip to Hairspray was necessary. I've been wearing hair extensions for years but never from Hairspray! They retail that little bit more expensive *€89 a pack {I use two packs} but because I wanted a perfect colour match I decided to fork out a little bit more so that I had someone to fall back on.

I ended up getting two different colour packs of hair extensions so that it all fit together that little bit better. At the end of the day you can't put a price on mermaid hair right? Ever since I changed my hair I've felt like a new person.

I feel like my skin is glowing, I look so much healthier and the attention I've been getting isn't half bad! With hair my motto is - the worst thing that could happen is you hate it and you have to fix it! So be brave and try different things, just do it the right way! Your hair health is important.

So what do you guys think?
